A' Design Award Competition
While designing the Shelter Desk designers' main inspiration was to develop something focused on both function and aesthetics. They wanted to come up with a solution that could improve the users' productivity by enhancing their organization layouts through useful features like clean cable management and easy storage access. The design language finds its most unique feature in the rounded corner drawers giving the desks a differentiating aspect and stylish look.

If you are someone who loves to have a clean, organized, clutter-free desk then the Shelter desk by @joaoteixeira_designstudio is the one for you!

It was designed keeping in mind all the devices, wires, and accessories that live on our work stations, however, Shelter still remains minimal while maximizing the value of a desk. There are three slim drawers on the front side that are big enough to store your gadgets, like tablets or laptops. The back drawer was designed for you to hide all your cables and chargers. But the beauty of this desk lies in the curved drawers that give this desk its fluidity while retaining the functionality of the design.

Everything Creative
The Portuguese designer Joao Teixeira used the current difficult situation to work on a personal idea. He created this Shelter named desk concept with three slim drawers for everyday items and a large drawer at the back to hold all the cables. The desk is meant to be used at home for home office purposes. The dynamic and flush shapes of the drawers remind me of the elegant shapes of a luxury yacht.â €

Motivated by the way most people are now working from home, Shelter arises as a wooden desk focused on productivity through organization. Since technology has become part of people’s daily routine, this desk’s design allows for convenient ways to connect the user with his gadgets via hidden and practical cable management. The tabletop features rounded drawers to add value to the design language, and material selection intends to give a sense of warmth and serenity to the user.

By now we have all figured out a spot that works for us while we work from home. Since we had to practically adapt overnight, we didn’t have the chance to make our work corner ‘work’ for us – the right desk, chair, lighting, and perhaps a coffee machine? The new normal is seeing a big wave of change as more and more companies are letting employees work from home even after lockdown ends, so now we have the time to prepare and let us start with this Shelter desk!

Shelter Desk Can Organise Your Home Office
Joao Teixeira recognises that many of us have transitioned to working from home, and that means adjusting our workspaces to function as a home office. Not that his Shelter Desk was designed specifically for the current situation—it was more designed for people who like to keep things neat, tidy, and organised—but it would function admirably as a desk for your home office.

The 'Shelter' Desk by João Teixeira Eliminates Clutter
The 'Shelter' desk is the design work of João Teixeira and is a premium workstation for those who are looking for a way to keep all of their essentials nearby, while still maintaining a minimalist aesthetic. The desk has an ultra-modern design that is paired with sleek draws across the entirety of the main body in order to offer as much storage space as possible in a small area. The rear section of the desk is also paired with a drawer that acts as a cable organization compartment to help keep cables from dangling about and messing up the look of the furniture piece.
